LATEST NEWS CLASH FINDER SMD has once again put together a clash finder for this years festival. Will it be spot on? Maybe not... but it will be pretty damn close, and we would happily put it up against any other clash finder out there! DOWNLOAD THE CLASHFINDER HERE (.xls for Excel) As well as the clashfinder he has also put together a handy little whos who guide to the Festival Republic Stage. His moneys on Johnny Foreigner and Los Campesinos to steal the show... and you can happily miss Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip. And as if that wasn't enough he also managed to catch up with Frank Turner and asked him to share his views on punk rock and mohawks... "The conservative aspect is the part that really gets to me. The guys running around with the leather jackets and mohawks are just really really conservative people. They are scared of change."
BRITISH SEA POWER INTERVIEW Journeywoman Sarah Nicholls recently caught up with British Sea Power’s Martin Noble at the Edinburgh Film Festival. Interviewed in the total darkness of the dungeons beneath the Heart of Midlothian on Edinburgh’s historic Royal Mile, the Brighton based Lord of Rock muses on life, death and Sussex cask ale.
ACELDAMA Ok, this has nothing to do with Reading Festival (at least not this year) but my mates just got out the studio and put up some footage of the weekend so I thought I would let people see it... Feel free to go check out their website Aceldama.co.uk DAPHNE & CELESTE - READING 2000 Someone finally uploaded a good video of Daphne & Celestes appearance at Reading 2000. If you haven't seen it yet here it is... Hey Everyone. First of all just a quick note. We are getting more and more queries from people thinking we are the event organisers and/or official site for the festival. This is not the case, we are a site run by fans for fans. The official site can be found HERE and is run by organisers FESTIVAL REPUBLIC. This doesn't mean we won't answer your queries when we can, because we are more than happy to, but if you want to know how much it will cost to sell fresh organic genuine Australian Possum burgers from your van and where to apply for the license to do so you may be best asking those guys! As you can see the site has been redesigned. We finally decided to move away from the flash based stuff because to be honest it was pretty crap, we have known this for a long time but just haven't had the time to do anything about it until now. We feel the new layout will make it easier to navigate and more user friendly, but we may be wrong so any and all feedback is appreciated. As I am sure the majority of you know by now the first of the major line up announcements has been and gone. The headliners are Rage Against the Machine (Friday), Killers (Saturday), and Metallica (Sunday). You can view the current line up by hitting the 'Line Up' link above. Once again tickets went on sale at the same time as the line up announcement, and as the OFFICIAL SITE states "A total of 200,000 tickets sold in 24 hours marks this year's tenth anniversary for Leeds and twentieth for Reading as an extra special event." So great news for the festival, but not so good for those that didn't manage to get tickets. Hopefully that wasn't too many of you though and the majority of those that want to go managed to get one. Another useful and very true piece of advice from the official site regarding the ever growing problem of ticket touting is "Beware of unauthorised ticket agencies including eBay, buying from them can be a lot of trouble - You are likely to pay over the odds for a ticket that will have never existed or might never materialise" Anyway, have a look around the site. There is a lot of new and updated info for this years festival (ok that section is the official Festival Republic festival info, but at the end of the day they are the best source for it) and we have put in the new 'Access All Areas' section for this year which will not only have our usual stream of interviews but hopefully extras such as the chance to interview the bands yourselves and various prizes up for grabs including signed merch and gig tickets. Be a little patient with this though, it's not going to take off overnight but it will get there in the end, how fast this happens just depends on how accomodating this years bands are. Have fun people, and we will be back with another update soon.
And on a final note... forum user Reject (real name Leanne) drove her car under a tractor. If she had died we would have been extremely upset. Unluckily for her she didn't, and therefore we like to take every opportunity to remind her of the incident and mock her. Therefore Leanne, this one's for you...
